With the cars packed full of donations and our hearts filled with love we headed out to Streetlight USA. What a wonderful time of the year to celebrate the joy of giving. As we began unloading all of the donations, one of the staff members stated that it looked like we had fulfilled all of the items on their community wish list. Another remarked on what a generous congregation we have. I could not agree more. What a privilege it is to witness the circulation of our collective good moving out to assist and serve others.
Next, NVC had the honor of kicking off Streetlight’s Christmas celebrations this year. We spent time with the girls creating picture frames and decorating cookies. Each piece created was as amazing and unique as each of the girls. Rev Dr. Penny also took a few moments to share with the girls a message about Christmas and the light of the divine that we each are. This message was written up beautifully, and designed to fit inside each of the picture frames as well.
After that we all enjoyed dinner together, chatting and listen to Christmas music. Our final surprise for the girls was giving each of them a stocking filled with gifts. How wonderful it was to watch them open each one and find the little treasures hidden inside. The stockings contained handmade bracelets, makeup, candy, nail polish and other “girly” items, as well as the positive thought rocks created by our youth program. This was truly an amazing event that could not have been created without the support of everyone here at NVC and our collective consciousness in revealing the power of Love. Merry Christmas everyone!
