Intention

“Every journey begins with the first step of articulating the intention, and then becoming the intention.” ~ Bryant McGill

We are embarking on an amazing journey, my friends.  As we enter this month of exploring our intentions, our community is in a time of deep transformation.  Last weekend, we were renewed and awakened by the power of Easter.  Now, we enter the process of releasing first our beloved Spiritual Director and next our physical building.  With so many aspects of our outer identity shifting and changing, it’s quite understandable if our heads are spinning.   And yet, there is an excitement building as well.  As those things that have defined New Vision Center fall away, we once again are in choice around who we want to be as a community.

For me, it starts with this question: Who do I want to be, as a member of the newest incarnation of New Vision Center? As Bryant McGill so clearly said, the first step is to articulate my own intention. This first requires me to take the time in prayer and contemplation to find clarity about how I choose to show up.  It next asks me to articulate that intention, to share it for all to hear. By letting people know about my intention, I am inviting them to support me as I live out that intention in our community.  As we each share our intentions, as we come into agreement and alignment with one another’s intentions, we strengthen our connection and our love.

So, let me be the first to share my intention for how I choose to be during this time of change.  I intend to show up fully in my life at New Vision Center.  I intend to be all the way in: in Wednesday and Sunday services, in committed giving, in the new NVC Circles program that launches in May. I intend to be in powerful and consistent prayer, holding the financial good and the spiritual good of the center in my highest consciousness.  I intend to be a place of anchored stability, recognizing that even through all this change, the most essential element of New Vision Center remains rock solid – our amazing people!  This community is not a building.  It’s not a Spiritual Director either, no matter how adored she may be. (And she is, deeply.)  New Vision Center is, at its heart, hundreds of individual personal relationships of love, respect and support.  It’s every service ministry, every giggling child, every person who arrives early to unlock and stays late to clean up.  It’s the consciousness that knows we are going to thrive through this transformation and emerge better than ever before.

And so, I invite you: I invite you to take the time needed for your own clarity of intention.  I invite you to join me in jumping all the way into this amazing community.  I invite you to join me in consciousness, knowing the highest and best for New Vision Center and for every person that calls it home.  As we stand together in agreement and support, we show what this community is truly made of.  We are New Vision Center for Spiritual Living, and we are strong.
