Have you ever wondered what it takes to become a Practitioner? Do you feel the pull of the calling to support others in affirmative prayer? Perhaps it’s time for you explore the path to earning a Practitioner license!
In order to qualify for Practitioner training, you must have taken six accredited CSL Core Curriculum classes within the last five years, including Foundations, Essential Ernest and Roots of Science of Mind. You can find a complete list of qualified classes at https://newvisioncsl.org/prerequisites-for-practitioner-training/ . In addition, students entering Practitioner training are expected to have a history of demonstrating consistent service and conscious giving at NVC. All students go through an interview process before beginning Practitioner classes to ensure that each person is fully prepared, both spiritually and emotionally, as well as informed about the rigors of the 60 week training process.
Students begin training with the 30 week Advanced Spiritual Living class, also known as Practitioner I. This class focuses on deep person growth and development, rooting up any hidden beliefs and deepening in spiritual practice. When the 30 weeks are complete, we take a nice summer break and relax! Once again, students have individual interviews to determine if they are ready to move into the second year of training. Professional Practitioner Training, also known as Practitioner II, is another 30 week course focusing on the actual job of being a practitioner — praying for and with people, leading meditations, conducting Practitioner sessions, hospital visits and so much more. Upon completion, students take a written licensing exam, and sit for an oral panel consisting of one minister and two Practitioners. It’s an extensive process, all designed to support Practitioners that are deeply grounded in Science of Mind Principles.
While it’s too early to say for sure, we are hoping to start an Advanced Spiritual Living class in September, 2019. If this calls to you, look at the prerequisite class list and see what classes you need to be ready by next fall. If you have any questions about your previous class work, reach out to our registrar Bonnie Saba at jbsaba@cox.net. I also encourage anyone who thinks they might want to become a Practitioner or wants to know more about the process to reach out to me, Lezli Goodwin, at lezli@newvisionaz.org. I’d love to chat with you about your path.
