I react with fear when I look at a world that is constantly in chaos. What I see is an environment that continually changes, whether it is due to mudslides, fires, mass shootings, political unrest, or climate change. My perception is that changes are occurring faster than I can process them.
How grateful I am to remember that I can choose to react from a place of fear or from love. When I choose love, I can look at what is changeless. “The Truth is that nothing is changeless but the Will of God,” according to A Course in Miracles (T-25.VII.2.8). You might be asking, “What is the Will of God”? A Course in Miracles says, “Ultimately everyone must remember the Will of God, because ultimately everyone must recognize himself. This recognition is the recognition that his will and God’s are one. … God is Love and you do want Him. This is your will.” (T-9.I.9.1-8).
Choosing love helps me view the changing world from a different perspective. I know that God is present at all times and in all events. I meditate and ask if I can be of service to someone who is suffering and then take guided action. I continue to open my heart to become a more compassionate person. The only thing that is constant in my life is the ability to choose—and I choose love.
A Course in Miracles study group meets in the Education Bldg. on Monday night from 6:30-8:00 pm.
Thanks for the reminder that we are always at choice in how we respond to events in our lives. “I choose love” is a great mantra when trouble arrives at the door.
