Townhall Recap

What an amazing Sunday we shared at New Vision Center this past week!  Reverend Lezli’s wonderful message was capped off with a joyful Town Hall attended by members, friends, and newcomers to NVC.  Munch & Mingle was expanded to a lunch of soup, salad, and other goodies to nourish the 80 people that took their seats to hear an update on recent happenings at NVC.

Treasurer Tom Rose gave an update on NVC financial status.  We celebrated as we learned that contributions are up and the 2018 budget, while not yet balanced is moving from a small negative to a positive flow in 2019.  Reverend Karin Lewis shared the fabulous news of a successful 2019 Partnership Campaign that exceeded our goals and sets NVC on a solid financial path for 2019. We are well on our way to supporting our five Mission-Based Budget categories: Deepening in Spiritual Growth, Teaching Spiritual Living, Living Spiritual Teaching, Growing our Youth in Love and Celebrating Abundance Consciousness.

The update on the pending sale of our current property came with a request for members who reside in the City of Phoenix to send letters to the Phoenix Zoning Commission in support of the zoning changes needed for our buyers to build the beautiful planned senior living, assisted living and memory care center on our property. It is essential that the City hear from as many constituents in favor of the rezoning as possible, as that is a big factor in making this decision. As a community, we have put a lot of love into this property, and it’s wonderful to think of that positive energy continuing to serve seniors as they are supported in joyful and healthy living.  If you would like information on how to send a letter (including contact information, talking points and the all-important rezoning number), please email Jeff Hargis at  jeff@newvisionaz.org

The last item on the agenda for the Town Hall was information about proposed changes to our NVC Bylaws.  The primary recommended changes are aimed at opening up the opportunity to consider a broader range of potential ministers for our Center.  You can find the proposed changes here.  There will be an opportunity for more Questions and Answers with the Leadership Council members, Sunday, January 27, during Munch and Mingle.  Sunday, February 3, after services, NVC members will vote on the proposed bylaws changes.

Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Town Hall Meeting.  Your love, interest and commitment are what make New Vision Center the extraordinary community that it is!
