Broadcasting Science of Mind out into the World!

NVC’s Stream Team has been in operation for nearly five years now. Our purpose is to provide reliable, high-quality streaming of live and recorded messages as a major ministry of outreach for NVC. To that end, the Stream Team’s products for NVC are:
  1. Quality, reliable broadcasts for our live audience;
  2. Quality recordings for our digital archives; and
  3. Management of NVC’s digital audio & video recordings library.
How many people are needed to produce a broadcast of one of our services? It takes 5 devoted people:
  1. Sound and lights manager;
  2. Two camera operators;
  3. A Director who is selecting which camera shots are streamed out to the viewing audience during the service; and
  4. A Slides Manager who projects the slides up to the screen behind the speaker.
Currently, we have a team of 9 which enables us all to rotate and provide a certain amount of ‘time off’ for each other to sit with the congregation and partake fully of the service.
Each post mentioned above requires some training since the timing of camera shots, slides, light changes, sound levels and the very starting and stopping of the live broadcast are critical to engaging the live audience as much as possible.
Is it fun? Absolutely. We have a great time working as a team every Sunday. And twice a year, we hold our own workshops to review our techniques and the new ideas any of us have for improving the broadcast that we craft together. Once or twice a year, we film NVC’s special events like Fa-La-La-Palooza, too.
Is it nerve-wracking sometimes? Yes, sometimes. We’ve had to adapt at the last minute to unexpected happenings such as partial power outages in the building, equipment malfunctions, network congestion, etc., but those are the exceptions. Most Sundays we are free to be focused on our craft.
