Thoughts are Things is the book of the month for January. Ernest Holmes writes that every experience has a causative thought behind it and that every thought has a consequence.
Lesson 16 of A Course in Miracles states, “I have no neutral thoughts.” The Lesson explains that everything we see is the result of our thoughts. “There is no exception to this fact. Thoughts are not big or little; powerful or weak. They are merely true or false. Those that are true create their own likeness. Those that are false make in their own likeness.”
I received guidance over ten years ago to write a book. I have no training in journalism, I wasn’t an English major, and never had a burning desire to write. I do have a compelling story to tell, and I know that if God wants me to publish a book, I will be supported. However, my thoughts are often something like this, “This is overwhelming; I’ll never get it done; there is too much to do; I need a website; I should blog to build a community, etc.”
What showed up in my life is a part-time job that is overwhelming. There is too much for me to do just working part time, and I’ll never get it done. The irony of the job is that I thought it would give me additional time to write. There was a brief moment a few weeks ago when I knew that I was thinking the same thing about my job as I was about the book. But, I never realized until I was writing this article why I manifested that particular job.
What better example of Ernest Holmes statement, “The images of your thought attract to you, and you are attracted to people, circumstances and situations which are like them.”
My next step is to forgive myself and to change my thoughts. But, that’s another whole article.
A Course in Miracles study group meets in the Education Bldg. on Monday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm. New and continuing students welcome.
I applaud your commitment to finding your truth and doing what is yours to do. There is no schedule, there is no limit on what you can do. Your blessings follow you wherever you are, whatever you are doing. Sometimes distance from an experience is required to really understand the meaning that it holds for you. I know this to be true for me. Some stories have to simmer before they can reveal themselves with clarity.
