It all began with a dream in the late 90’s. I woke up and knew without a doubt that I was being given an assignment. My next thought was that I was not qualified or prepared to do what was being asked of me from the perspective of skill level or training. Then I remembered that I was a spiritual being and all I needed to do was show up and trust the process.
The next step was to let go of what I thought my life should look like (remove the corporate ladder from the wall) and embrace the path that was going to prepare me to answer the call. I loved knowing what I was supposed to do with my life, even if I didn’t know the first thing about writing a book.
We all know what we are supposed to do while we are here on this earth plane. Lesson 64 of A Course in Miracles says, … “your function here is to be the light of the world, a function given you by God.” As if God read my mind, the Lesson goes on, “It is only the arrogance of the ego that leads you to question this, and only the fear of the ego that induces you to regard yourself as unworthy of the task assigned to you by God Himself.”
Fast forward more than 15 years to 2017. I am listening to ministerial student, Karin Lewis, RScP, deliver a heartfelt and inspiring message on March 4th. She leads us in a visualization process and asked us to picture a symbol of our dream. What immediately showed up for me was the cover of the book that God asked me to write.
I did not design the cover; it was shown to me in a vision. I made a simple sketch in a notebook and shared it with my daughter. She took one look at it and added a horse in the lower right corner. Either she had a more detailed vision than I did or she could remember more of the specifics.
The book cover will now become a reality. It is time to go from a sketch in a notebook to a visual reminder of how I show up as the light of the world.
