Working with a Practitioner!

I Simply Hold Your Truth

Every Sunday, we are re-introduced to our Practitioners.  We hear our Sunday Service Host talk about the Prayer Table, the Pre-Service Meditation, the Opening Prayer/Spiritual Mind Treatment, High Watch, and the Prayer Zone (3-Minute “Norm”ical).  Yet, we might still wonder if there’s more.  What can a Practitioner really do for me?  How do I get in touch with one?  What do they expect from me?

Our Founder, Ernest Holmes, wrote in The Science of Mind, “A spiritual practitioner is one who recognizes man as Spiritual Reality.  Since there is but One Mind, the practitioner makes this recognition within his own mind.”

Dr. Holmes goes on to say, “Through the medium of the One Mind, his [the Practitioner’s] statements rise to objective conditions in his patient, according to his belief and the patient’s receptivity.  Healing is accomplished through the act of setting Subjective Law in motion.  The more spiritual or Godlike the mentality of the practitioner, the more powerful the treatment.”

With time, Practitioners softened the word “patient” to “client” or “beloved,”  but, their mission never changed.  Most simply stated, Practitioners know with 100% certainty the Truth of our never-ending connection to the Divine and they hold us in that space every single day of our lives, whether we feel less than connected or not.

Dr. Holmes was a Practitioner first and foremost.  His writings reflect his deep love for this Calling:

“… [H]e needs only to know whom he wishes to help, realizing that in the field of Mind and Spirit there is no apartness, and then he speaks the word for the other person, in full confidence that the Law will operate upon it.  He is not concerned where the person is whom he desires to help, or what he may be doing at that particular time.  He is concerned only with his own thought relative to this person, endeavoring to bring out in his own mind the realization that this person is a spiritual entity, governed by a perfect Law, directed by positive Intelligence, and animated by Divine Life, Love, and Law.”
