Like any plant, growth of the Chinese Bamboo Tree requires nurturing through water, fertile soil, and sunshine. In its first year though, we see no visible signs of growth. In the second year, still no growth…the third, the fourth year…still nothing visible is happening.
Science of Mind teaches us to plant the seed of our intentions, and then trust. We are taught to release our Spiritual Mind Treatments to the Universe to act, and let go, keeping our minds on the things we need to do to nurture the action of the Law. Sometimes, if we don’t see immediate results we start to doubt ourselves and question the value of our efforts. We may even contemplate quitting.
But look to the Bamboo Tree. Finally, in the fifth year, something amazing happens…
The Chinese Bamboo Tree grows 80 feet tall in just six weeks!
Did it really happen overnight? Of course not! Had the tree not developed a strong unseen foundation it could not have sustained its life as it grew. The same principle is true for our faith. We patiently toil towards worthwhile dreams and goals, building on solid principles while overcoming adversity and challenge. As we grow the strong internal foundation, we create a life of meaning and purpose.
And had the Chinese Bamboo Tree farmer dug up his little seed every year to see if it was growing, he would have kept it from reaching its potential. In other words, the actions caused by self-doubt halt the miracle from ever taking shape.
You and I are the same. It takes faith to have faith in the process of growing. It takes belief in yourself to keep going. It takes confidence to trust that you will see your life unfold as you focus on the good that comes your way and don’t get stuck in temporary conditions. And it takes the Love in all of us to see how life flourishes as we support each other on our journey.
