Greetings Friends of ONE TABLE - We have exciting interactive opportunities for you this month!
For September, we will be exploring Taoism (DOW'-izm). Taoism is an ancient Chinese philosophy and spiritual tradition that emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao, which means "the Way" or the natural flow of the universe. It teaches balance, simplicity, and alignment with nature through practices like meditation, breathing, and mindfulness. Tai Chi, a slow and graceful martial art, is deeply connected to Taoist principles because it helps practitioners cultivate inner calm, energy (qi), and balance. By moving in harmony with breath and intention, Tai Chi embodies the Taoist values of harmony, flow, and unity between body, mind, and spirit.
FIELD TRIP: There is no formal "church" or service for Taoism in the valley, but many people embrace and practice its philosophy. We are fortunate to have Charlie Gill, head of the Southwest Center for Taoist Studies, join us to introduce both Taoism and Tai Chi. He has kindly agreed to share his knowledge with us, at NVC - free of charge! Please join us so there is a robust presence and welcoming for Mr. Gill.
POT LUCK: We will meet, eat, and share on our usual 4th Wednesday of the month: September 24th, 6:30pm, NVC Social Hall. Please join us to continue the discussion, whether you are able to attend the field trip experience or not.
I hope you will join us for the activities of One Table this month, where we "Nurture a consciousness of peace and compassion through shared experiences that deepen our awareness of diverse faith traditions, embracing that diversity as a reflection of the beauty of the one universal Truth that underlies all existence."
No registration required! Just show up with an open heart and mind with a dish to share! All are welcome!
