Dear Beloveds,
We've come to the final Sunday of February, and I must say I've been enjoying these opportunities to "Make It Real"! And, in my opinion, I've saved the best for last. Looking back over my almost 10 years of giving messages, I've received a great deal of feedback. Most of it, the vast majority, has been positive. But we are an honest and transparent community. When something doesn't sit right with you, y'all don't hesitate to let us know. This is a very good thing, and I appreciate it deeply. I take your feedback to my prayer chair, and use my spiritual discernment to decide what, if any, changes I will make going forward. It's a beautiful process.
Do you want to know the most common piece of negative feedback I get? It's, "Stop saying that word! I hate it! You lose me the minute you say it." Oh wow, I hear you. Whether the word that makes you twitch is God, Jesus, the Bible, worship, diversity, Pride, Goddess... the list is really long... Whatever that word is for you, I understand. The thing is, I 100% guarantee that whatever word you hate, someone else has given us sad feedback that we don't use that word more often. In our very diverse community, we ministers get to walk a line of balance. We do it prayerfully, seeking alignment with Spiritual Principle. There are, you see, really good spiritual reasons to keep using those words that make you so uncomfortable. This Sunday, we'll explore why it's good news that I won't "Stop Saying That Word!"
Much love,
Rev. Lezli
