Giving Hope This Holiday Season

As the holiday season approaches, our NVC Outreach Team is turning its attention to a very special opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families right here in our community. Our newest charity partner, Sojourner Center, has been providing safety, shelter, and hope to individuals and families overcoming domestic violence since 1977.

Currently, the Center has 127 beds occupied in its temporary housing program, where residents can stay for up to 120 days. An additional 30 apartments are occupied by families transitioning toward independence. These families pay rent based on their income while continuing to receive the resources and support they need to build a new life.

Today, more than 110 children are living in Sojourner Center's temporary and transitional housing. And this holiday season, NVC has an opportunity to bring a little extra joy into their lives!

Each year, Sojourner Center creates a special holiday boutique called “Gifting Hope.” Thanks to donated gifts, parents "shop" for presents for their children, ensuring there is something special waiting for them on Christmas morning. The children also get to experience the joy of choosing a gift for their parent!

And that's where we come in!

Our Outreach Team invites you to help fill the Gifting Hope Boutique with items that will bring smiles, comfort, and a sense of normalcy to these families.

Gifts especially needed include:

  • LEGO sets – for all ages
  • Diapers – especially sizes 4 and 6
  • Sneakers and hoodies – all sizes
  • Speakers and headsets – a great opportunity to join together with your Circle or friends for a group gift!
  • Bathrobes and slippers – a much-appreciated luxury for all ages, especially moms
  • Adult coloring books – a relaxing and therapeutic gift for moms
  • Can openers
  • Youth boys' clothing - babies and girls seem to get more options
  • Gift cards – Target, Sephora, and Walmart
  • Craft kits

Please note: No toy guns (including Nerf guns), darts, or toys that could be considered violent.

Giving is easy! Beginning November 1, you'll find a QR code on the NVC website, in the Keep-Me-Sheet, and at the Outreach Table that will take you directly to Sojourner Center's Amazon Wish List.  You can bring your gift to NVC and place in the Outreach box or make a donation and we’ll shop for you!

These families have taken a courageous step toward safety, healing, and a new beginning. While we may never know their names or their stories, we can let them know they are not alone.

Let's come together this holiday season to share a little love, restore a little hope, and remind these families that their community cares.

Whatever you can give, large or small, will help make the holidays brighter for our neighbors.

Thank you for being the heart of NVC Outreach!
