Dear Beloveds,
For a few weeks now, I’ve been enjoying listening to messages that Rev. Kathryn McDowell gave nearly twenty years ago at the New Vision Center. Hearing her voice brings me back to the feeling of discovering this teaching—the Love that is present here—and realizing that spiritual community could be a place of joyful transformation.
A lot has changed in the last twenty years. Rev. Kathryn is now in a memory care facility, no longer recognizing even her sisters. The New Vision Center has moved to a new location. Faces have come and gone. Ministries have evolved. And yet, some things remain the same. The heart of this teaching continues to offer a powerful invitation to awaken.
We remain a welcoming community where many hear their own, personal call to spiritual growth. Sometimes it’s in what is said from the platform. Sometimes a smile or a hug breaks away the armor. Often, it comes through music or in the simple act of caring for one another. There are so many ways we find our path. Mungi Ngomane reminds us, “Strength lies in unity.
We all have wants and desires, but the most likely way of reaching our destination or goal is to join forces with those around us.” Consider this your personal invitation to be at New Vision this Sunday morning—in our beautiful sanctuary or online.
Much Love,
Rev. Karin
