Dear Beloveds,
Each week, as we continue to dig into both the basics of "The Science of Mind" and the Indigenous stories from "Braiding Sweetgrass", I become more clear on one pivotal idea: that we are One with all of Creation. As Rev. Karin shared so beautifully on Sunday, the upheaval of the world can knock us off our center and tempt us to seek out villains to blame and revenge to be enacted. Our beautiful philosophy reminds us in those moments that the truth at the heart of ALL Life is Love and Oneness. Our Centers for Spiritual Living Global Vision says, “We envision a world in which we live and grow as One Global Family that respects and honors the interconnectedness of all life; a world where this kinship with all life prospers and connects through the guidance of spiritual wisdom and experience.” We seek to remember this high vision in all that we think, say and do.
In our book of the month, Robin Wall Kimmerer shares about the various ways she was taught to honor the earth and the plants as she harvested sacred sweetgrass. Of course, there were strong opinions on all sides. The key point remained the same -- we must have respect and gratitude for everyone and everything involved, and always give back. When we think about the Law of Cause and Effect at work in our lives, how might those lives look different if we had that same reverence for all of Life? How would that respect and honor be reflected back to us? This Sunday, let's find out as we explore "Cause and Effect in the Sweetgrass."
Much love,
Rev. Lezli
