Making Space for Joy

Dear Beloveds,

Growing up, I considered myself a good girl. I followed rules, turned my homework in on time and was generally a goodie-two-shoes..I was raised to firmly believe that fun came after all the work was done, and not one moment sooner. This was so deeply instilled that it wasn't until I was raising my own children that I even questioned if that was the best way to live. Suddenly, looking at my sweet kids, I didn't want to tell them to prioritize work and productivity over their own joy. This was revelatory!

Yes, there will always be dishes and laundry to be done -- that's just one of those truths of life in the physical realm. But when an opportunity for Joy makes itself known now, I take it. Whether it's a quiet evening knitting, cuddling with a grandbaby or giggling with a girlfriend over shockingly delicious gluten-free cinnamon rolls, I prioritize joy. After all, Joy IS a Divine quality. Our capacity to experience Joy is baked into our very beingness. Spirit built Joy into us because it is essential.I hope you join us this week as we explore, "Making Space for Joy."

Much love,

Rev. Lezli

Question for Contemplation:

What would my life be like if I made space daily for Joy?
